The East Burwood Football Netball Club was saddened to hear of the passing of club great Bob Shaw overnight.
After the family moved to the area in 1954, Bob played for two years in the Under 16’s, then the reserves for a season before making his senior debut in a semi-final against Nunawading at Blackburn. He went on to play a dominant role at centre half back in the club’s most successful era claiming six premierships in the years from 1960 to 1968.He played 280 games in all for the Rams.
He also served in various positions on the club committee from 1957 to 1967.
Bob was awarded life membership of the Rams in 1966.
The club extends its sympathies and condolences to the Shaw family at this difficult time. We will share details of the funeral arrangements when they are confirmed.
